Dr Peter Dorey
Peter joined Worldpop as a Research Fellow in 2023. His expertise lies in the application of spatial and spatiotemporal statistical methodologies within demographic and health contexts.
He has a BSc in Mathematics and a MRes in Geography and Sustainable development from the University of St Andrews. During his doctoral research, he employed novel techniques to analyse spatial variations in fertility across Great Britain. His other work has utilised spatial statistical methods to understand the differing impact of the Covid pandemic across the UK, resulting in policy briefings and papers in high impact journals.
Since joining WorldPop, his primary focus has been on developing methodology to produce high-resolution maps of child and maternal health indicators in low- and middle-income regions and understanding how to quantify the change in these indicators across time.
