Laurence Cannings
Laurence is an ESRC funded PhD research student who contributes to analytical work on WorldPop projects. He obtained his BSc in Geography from University College London (UCL), and a MSc in Social Statistics and Research Methods from the University of Southampton.
He recently undertook a placement at the UN Food & Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in Bangkok, where he worked within the Climate Change and Resilience team to support the development of geospatial products, and improve the monitoring of wellbeing outcomes from various nature-based solution projects. He has also worked as a data analyst for several UK local governments in data visualisation, predictive modelling and survey analysis.
His current PhD research explores the impact of climate and landscape characteristics upon both objective and subjective wellbeing, and the relationship between the two. The project is a mixed method study, which included fieldwork in Volta Delta, South Ghana.
