Dr Kristine Nilsen
Kristine has a PhD and a MSc in Social Statistics from the University of Southampton and a MSc in Population and Development from the London School of Economics. Her PhD thesis assessed the impacts of health system policies on the distribution of spatial and socio-economic inequalities in use and quality of maternal health services in Cambodia. Kristine’s expertise is in the conceptualisation, design and analysis of quantitative household surveys and in the application of generalised linear mixed effects models and model-based predictions, including small area estimation and geo-spatial modelling. Kristine has previously worked for the UNFPA Geneva office on reproductive and maternal health polices and for the UNFPA Lao PDR country office providing support to the National Statistics Bureau on the production of reproductive and maternal health statistics. She also worked as a Data Analyst in Cambodia implementing and analysing household surveys evaluating health system interventions in the context of universal health coverage. At the University of Southampton, she has previously worked on the Belmont DELTAS project researching the impacts of environmental factors on livelihoods, poverty and nutrition in mega-deltas.
